Croatia finishes EU accession negotiation
The event marks a successful end to a six-year process of negotiations in which Croatia was asked to adopt and implement EU legislation and regulations, a total of 35 negotiating chapters covered the whole range of EU policies and rules.
Upon the completion of accession negotiation, an accession treaty is expected to be signed within six months, following the formal opinion of the European Commission, consent of the European parliament, and a decision by the European Council. Following that, each EU Member State will launch its own ratification procedure, which in most cases is a parliamentary vote.
